Terminology

Term	Definition
Experiment	a process which yields an outcome
Outcome	a possible result of an experiment
Event	a set of outcomes
Sample Space	the set of all possible outcomes (often drawn in a two way table)
Complement	the set of outcomes NOT contained in the event (usually denoted as event’)
Mutually Exclusive	the two events share no common outcomes (the two event cannot happen at the same time)
Independent	the occurrence of one event does not effect the ?probability of the other one occurring
